The true cost of business networking in India
By Vipul Patel · Founder, Huunr · Updated August 2026
I did not build Huunr because India lacks places to “network.” It has too many: dead WhatsApp groups, LinkedIn comment threads, and breakfast meetings that cost more than a laptop. The useful question is what you pay, what you get, and whether you can leave without a renewal reminder.
What you actually pay
| Network | Typical cost | What that buys |
|---|---|---|
| Huunr | ₹999 one-time (founding price). ₹49 card delivery. | Lifetime membership, WhatsApp community, business page, 1,000 cards, feed, directory listing. |
| BNI (India chapters) | Varies by chapter; commonly tens of thousands of rupees per year, plus application and sometimes a weekly breakfast. | Structured referral chapter, exclusive category seat, in-person cadence. Not a website directory. |
| LinkedIn Premium / Sales Nav | Recurring, billed in USD; Indian cards typically see several thousand rupees a month depending on plan. | InMail, search filters, “who viewed.” Not a curated room, and not printed cards. |
| Conference + random WhatsApp groups | ₹5,000–₹25,000+ per ticket; groups are free and usually worthless. | A stack of visiting cards and a muted chat. |
BNI and LinkedIn prices move by city, chapter, and USD-INR. I am not quoting a fake “official” BNI India fee. Ask the local executive director. The shape of the cost is the point: recurring vs once.
What Huunr is not trying to be
BNI is good if you want a weekly, category-exclusive referral engine and you will show up. LinkedIn is good if you need a public professional graph. Huunr is a paid, high-signal WhatsApp community plus a public company page you actually own the narrative on. One group now; city groups when demand is real — we do not pretend there are 90 live chats.
Refund: 7 days, unless the cards are already in production or shipped. That is the only asterisk, and it is on the refund policy.
A simple way to decide
If you need a chapter that meets every Wednesday, join BNI. If you need InMail, pay LinkedIn. If you want a lifetime seat in a curated Indian business community, a page at huunr.com/b/your-business, and a thousand cards without a subscription, that is ₹999 on Huunr.
